Music Video Intro Blog

As someone who listens to music a lot, I've had a hard time deciding what song to choose for my music video. I listen to a lot of hip-hop, so finding an ideal song that is school appropriate was difficult for me. I originally thought of the song 9mm and a Three Piece Suit, because it is funny and fast-paced. I thought that filming a couple friends running around in ski masks would be funny to film. Although I thought this was a good idea, I came to the conclusion that doing a Christmas song would be more fitting, especially if I happen to be doing my project alone. I am choosing to do the song, All I Want For Christmas Is You, by Mariah Carey. I think that this would be a more enjoyable, light-hearted experience, and I am already sick of the song, so making a video on it won't ruin it for me. Given the time of the year, making this is very fitting, and I know that I could do this alone and make it funny. I have an elf and Santa costume, so it could turn out to be pretty funny. I will be working alone on all of the editing processes, but might have a couple friends help me with the filming of the project to get more dynamic shots and tell a better story. I am not sure entirely what I want to do for all of the scenes of my project, but I know that I do not want to be alone in an elf costume filming it. I think that filming some of the scenes may be awkward, but I'm sure it will come out great and be a funny memory. I am excited to work on this project and really try and implement all kinds of new filming techniques. I am interested to see how editing the clips will work with lip syncing and keeping on pace with the song for the entirety. I anticipate a large amount of editing time, and plan on getting a lot of extra takes so that everything is in order. Because this project is over twice as long as the last one, I will need to get a lot more footage and come up with many ideas for the scenes. I plan on making my video on only a portion of the song rather than the whole thing. The entirety of the song is four minutes, and I frankly don't think I would have enough scenes to last that long without replaying. I may complete this project by myself due to COVID-19 purposes, in this case I would possibly consider switching my song. I am glad that I have a backup song lined up in the case that I am doing this by myself.

 First Scene -  The picture will open on me being on my computer, clearly lacking energy and cranky. This scene will take place in my room, and will be an over-the-shoulder shot, in order to capture myself and what is happening on the screen. The shot will zone in, shifting focus onto my screen. Production Blog: Finished Editing

 I am happy to say that I have finished the editing process. My project is now complete. I may now rest in peace, knowing that I did everything I could. Looking over everything, it is perfect the way it is. I spent a lot of time on the titles. They took up more time than I anticipated. They stretched way past when I wanted. They ran long, but they weren't as distracting as I thought. Because a lot happens in a short amount of time, it is hard to really focus on the titles. Next I put filters on everything. They weren't too dramatic but made it easy to tell when the monster's POV was on. I put dark guitar over the entire movie. I split the music up at parts and adjusted the volumes. I did this so that you could hear the dialogue and other background noises. I added in growling when necessary. I added a voiceover of my mom yelling my name. Planning Blog: Titles

 The opening credits will showcase bold, all cap letters in a typical, readable font. IT WILL LOOK LIKE THIS.   There will be a title accrediting everyone involved for every establishing shot I take. They will go against the background, contrasting very visibly. The working title will be displayed at the end of the establishing shots, as the scene closes in on the house and flickers to nighttime. The credits will follow the same, but the establishing shots will be at night with a contrasted white text. The working title as of now is The Red Phantom. It will appear in red at the end of the beginning credits like this THE RED PHANTOM. The titles will remain up for about 2-3 seconds each. The last one, the working title will display for about 5 seconds. All of the titles will be centered on the screen. The names will be in a slightly different font than the titles.
