Title Research: Watch the Titles Website
It's fascinating to see a lot of the opening credits alone, because you begin to appreciate the amount of work that is put into them. Being at the beginning of most films, and typically not contributing much if anything to the plot, it doesn't get much credit where it's due. In animated movies or those that require a lot of artistical work may decide to show that and those people's work off in those scenes. Movies that show off lots of fancy camerawork may take the time to give cool establishing shots to set the scene. Sometimes, simple patterns and changing designs can be a way to encapsulate the viewer, while making the credits very visible. There are many different ways to present your opening credits, and every film is different in that aspect. There is a lot of freedom available here, so it gives room for a lot of creativity to occur. So, you have to wonder why the director chose to present the titles the way he did. What are you supposed to feel or anticipate for the upcoming film. I hope to take this new knowledge and implement it into my film, to make the best of what little time I have to make an impact on the viewer.
