Production Blog: Initial Editing
I took a few days off once I got done with filming. I figured I deserved the break. I used the time to think about some of the editing that I could use. I maybe should've gotten ahead, but nonetheless I got a good amount done today. I have a good idea of what this film needs now to bring it to completion. I have a lot of shortening to do to all of the clips. I created a version that stays under two minutes without speeding up any of the clips. It does not capture as much as I would want. I took over ten minutes of film in total. This is including extras and the establishing shots. I would like to make use of at least 5 minutes of that film. If that means I have to cut clips down and speed parts up than so be it. In the two minute version that I created, it was difficult to catch on to what was happening. As much as I could take the easy route, I want to test myself. I have done such before, shortening a video over 2 minutes, to under 1 minute, so it is very possible. I started looking for sounds to use. Good horror music is somewhat hard to come by, especially royalty free. I found some good snarling and growling sound effects online that are not copyrighted. I added a filter onto every scene that takes the perspective of the monster. This will make it easier later on to add sound effects like breathing and snarling.
