Production Blog: Preparing to Finish

I should soon be onto the last day of filming. There should be no more reshoots necessary. I made sure of this by implementing all of the scenes into iMovie. It is easier to see how the shots line up and play out together this way. After adjusting what I had and cropping the videos to the length I wanted, I noticed a lot of things. First of all, I had way more film than needed. The dialogue with my mother alone takes up about 40 seconds after being edited. This is a problem because this conversation needs to be shorter. So, I will resolve to refilm the scene and make it only a couple lines. This should dramatically shorten the film. By doing this, I can add in more scenes to my project. As of now, my project stands at just over two minutes without the establishing shots. Hopefully after scraping some of the less useful scenes and adjusting the dialogue exchange, I will be able to add a couple of the shots I took. This will give more time for credits to roll. There was also some change in lighting which didn't turn out the way I had planned. I was attempting to make the light get gradually darker in the room as time went on. In one of the last scenes however, it gets very bright in my room, I believe I forgot to close a door. Through filters and such, I think I can adjust the lighting to match. If not, I can reorganize the scenes and make the progression of light more natural. Nonetheless, I am on track to get into the main scheme of the editing process. In the next couple of days, I should be tying the strings on this project.
