Intro Blog

 Hello, I am Jake Kreis, and this is my first blog. I am a senior attending Fort Lauderdale High School. My decision to take AICE Media Studies came about for a few reasons. Firstly, ever since I was a kid, I've had a fascination with youtube and video making. I would watch youtube skits and funny videos almost every day, and I always wanted to be able to make videos like that. Having played soccer almost my entire life, much of what I see in my media is filled with soccer highlight videos and news that pertain to what I want to see. It's very fascinating to me that this generation will live on in a way through the media imprint that it leaves. So in that way, I believe that being able to present as many of the good things about myself as possible will help me to keep a good representation of my life. I would help my friend make his own youtube videos, editing film of RC cars and stuff we did in the summers. As little attention as it got, we still enjoyed making them and looking back on them over the years. Now, what used to be going on the computer after school, has turned into personal cell phones and all types of devices used all day. I think that the dramatic emergence of mass media over the recent years is a fascinating topic, and one that I want to learn about given its almost certain inhabitance in my future. I am unsure as to what I want to do, but I believe that by taking this class, I will get a good feel of if I still enjoy media, or if it is a fantasy that I've grown out of. I strongly believe that media has a massive influence on our lives, especially in this day and age. The power of the media can persuade the public to believe and rise for a cause. The impact that the news has on people's thoughts and actions is undeniable and has been something that has had an immense impact on global events for the past century. I am excited to get started with the school year, and document the things that I do and learn until May, when a new era of my life starts. I can remember the day vividly in which this picture was taken. It was the 2010 World Cup Final, won by Spain in overtime by my favorite player Andres Iniesta. I watched the game at the house across the street with my neighbors, and everyone went crazy when the ball hit the net.

Planning Storyboard for my Bang Commercial

 First Scene -  The picture will open on me being on my computer, clearly lacking energy and cranky. This scene will take place in my room, and will be an over-the-shoulder shot, in order to capture myself and what is happening on the screen. The shot will zone in, shifting focus onto my screen. Then, an ad pops up for the mysterious Bang energy. I will then accidentally order it trying to click away.  Then the doorbell rings to my surprise. Second Scene -  The next scene will be me opening the door to see who or what is there. Upon opening it, I notice the Bang energy at the door and shout to whoever left it there. Production Blog: Finished Editing

 I am happy to say that I have finished the editing process. My project is now complete. I may now rest in peace, knowing that I did everything I could. Looking over everything, it is perfect the way it is. I spent a lot of time on the titles. They took up more time than I anticipated. They stretched way past when I wanted. They ran long, but they weren't as distracting as I thought. Because a lot happens in a short amount of time, it is hard to really focus on the titles. Next I put filters on everything. They weren't too dramatic but made it easy to tell when the monster's POV was on. I put dark guitar over the entire movie. I split the music up at parts and adjusted the volumes. I did this so that you could hear the dialogue and other background noises. I added in growling when necessary. I added a voiceover of my mom yelling my name. I shortened most of the walking clips down. I sped up most of the clips involving walking or movement. I added in a slowly fading scream a...

Planning Blog: Titles

 The opening credits will showcase bold, all cap letters in a typical, readable font. IT WILL LOOK LIKE THIS.   There will be a title accrediting everyone involved for every establishing shot I take. They will go against the background, contrasting very visibly. The working title will be displayed at the end of the establishing shots, as the scene closes in on the house and flickers to nighttime. The credits will follow the same, but the establishing shots will be at night with a contrasted white text. The working title as of now is The Red Phantom. It will appear in red at the end of the beginning credits like this THE RED PHANTOM. The titles will remain up for about 2-3 seconds each. The last one, the working title will display for about 5 seconds. All of the titles will be centered on the screen. The names will be in a slightly different font than the titles.
