Music Video Creative Critical Reflection

Image
 1. My project uses conventions of the humor genre to entertain and indulge the audience. By wrapping presents incorrectly and getting overly excited, the audience is sucked into what is about to occur. The costumes that are worn make the video stand out under the Christmas theme, especially when we are doing things like wrapping presents and standing under a Christmas tree. At first, the video doesn't start out as humorous, but as the story unfolds, it becomes more and more demented and comedic. The happy Christmas music in the background contrasts what actually happening in our depiction of Christmas day. I used filters and camera movements to better introduce scenes, creating a more humorous element. The finished product. By introducing Santa as a homeless guy and making him do Christmas with us, it makes our video a lot more twisted from a typical Christmas music video. The issue that is represented by our product is social anxiety which many people face. Going out in public we...

Last Christmas Music Video

Going into this project, I was extremely unsure of what I wanted to do. I thought I would end up doing something extremely simple including videos of my friends and me doing normal everyday things. Just a compilation of scenery videos over a simple song, using all kinds of filming techniques to show nature and things around Fort Lauderdale. At the end of the day though, I could do that for any other project, and I had an opportunity to make something funny and really tell a story. When I thought about doing a Christmas song, I knew it was a great opportunity to make something more enjoyable. From the first ideas I had for the project, I knew that if all else failed it would remain extremely memorable. Planning out the project, and coming up with funny ideas, they became much more difficult to execute in person. Filming on my phone and working with my friends made the experience more enjoyable as well. Nonetheless, despite not getting the exact storyboard I planned out, our video i...

Music Video Editing Blog

After the second day of filming, I knew that I had more than enough to make a good, concise music video. I was positive that we would not need to film any extra, and it ended up working out that way. I had a hard time deciding which way I wanted to go with it. At first, I placed the scenes the way they were on the storyboard, but the mall scene seemed more confusing than anything. By keeping everything in the same area, and finding Santa under the pier at the beach, it made the video much funnier. There was only one scene that I needed to fix, but it ended up making the video funnier. I filmed myself going back to close the door that my friend left open, making awkward eye contact with a dog in the house. I decided not to use many of the lip-syncing videos, because it took concentration away from the action going on. The video came out to be just under two minutes. The scenes were on average about 12 seconds after trimming everything to perfection. I was thinking of finding a way to ad...

Music Video Day 2 Filming Blog

On Wednesday, November 2nd, I held the second day of filming for the music video project. After planning out all of the spots that we would shoot, I told my friends to come over after school. Once they arrived, we got into costume and set out. We filmed ourselves making the presents in the kitchen of my house first. Because some of the scenes needed to be done at night, we had to get all of the scenes that didn't out of the way first. The change from daytime to nighttime also emphasizes how long the journey was. Because we supposedly walked and skipped around everywhere, it makes the timeline much more comedic. The challenge became getting everything we needed light for done before the sun set. We filmed us caroling or at least attempting to carol at people's houses. We filmed us skipping up and down the street and dancing in front of the mall. We filmed ourselves finding Santa inside and chasing him down in the mall. Filming in the mall was probably the best and funniest part ...
