Music Video Day 1 Filming Blog
On November 23rd, I held the first day of filming for my music video. We met up at night at the beach at Las Olas. This wasn't the place we initially planned on filming, but we got some shots that will add to the scenery of the music video. We went to the mall and filmed some of the scenes outside, but it was closed so we did not go inside. We took videos of us dancing around in the empty parking lot, which is pretty funny ironically. We got a scene of us looking up at the massive deer, which are strung completely with Christmas lights. I would have liked to have done more, but there was a narrow gap for us all to meet up and film it. We were only able to film for about an hour or so before they had to leave, but we will have much more time and be better prepared for the next shoot. I have not begun editing anything yet, but we have almost 30 seconds of footage, some of which will be cut. By the time editing rolls around, there should be at least 2 minutes of footage, but I am hoping to cut it down to just over a minute. We were not able to film many of the scenes that were more public, but we are planning on getting these shots on December 1st. I am glad in a way that we waited for the majority of the film because they just set up a lot more Christmas decorations at Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. They are lighting the tree there, so it should add to the spectacle and really put together the scene. There is still a lot to go, and I recognize that, but we have planned out the day so that we have much more time to film. I am planning on doing some more lip-syncing shots, some of which at the mall. I know that these will be hard to get in with the timing of the song, but they will be funny to watch over and fill some time. I want to get shots of us caroling at random houses, but that may not be possible due to COVID-19. I think that we will wear masks though and distance six feet, to be safe. We will wear masks when we are around people, but they should not make it into the video and we will try to face away from the camera when wearing them. I have no problem personally wearing it, but I feel like it takes away the Christmas mood slightly.
